The Marty Mart process is thorough and makes sure that no aspect of the project is overlooked. It all starts with setting up an initial meeting that fits into your schedule. Once the meeting is set, Marty will confirm the day prior that you’ll have time to meet. To make sure that your time isn’t wasted Marty also will notify you when he is on his way to meet you!
The first meeting typically takes place at the home where the project is taking place. The goal is to figure out what the client’s vision is and what it is they want to do with the space. This includes materials, time frame, and budget. Marty will take notes and make suggestions based on his experience. He’ll be there for the clients before, during, and after the project to make sure all their needs are met.
Using Marty’s expertise, he can identify potential issues that may impact the construction deadline or budget. He will also give a ballpark estimate of costs, but nothing is finalized until the demolition is done and Marty can inspect the subfloors. He can also offer custom baseboards and trim, stairs, railing, doors, and other services that can benefit the overall vision of the client.
After the project has begun, it becomes time to collect the necessary materials. Marty will gladly go to the store to help with the selection if the client wishes. However, if the clients prefer then Marty can get the materials for them. The store will typically charge for delivery, but Marty has no hidden fees for his clients. Once the materials are bought and ready to go, Marty can start on the next step.
There are some materials that need additional time to acclimate to the conditions of the home.
Hardwoods need time to acclimate, or the results can be disastrous. The wood will shrink or swell and can change dimension in the process. If the wood is installed before it can settle, then it will change shape and ruin the floor it has been installed in.
Engineered hardwood and laminates don’t require any time to acclimate. The way they’re manufactured prevents them from shrinking or swelling. If you are installing engineered hardwood or laminates, then the materials need no time to acclimate.
When we put together an estimate, we will put together a projected timeline for the project based on the scope, difficulty, and subfloor. The subfloor’s material and condition can seriously affect the time frame of the project. Plywood is cheaper to build on and easier, and cement is harder and takes longer to build on top of. In addition, if the subfloor is in bad shape, then it needs to be replaced before the rest of the project continues. The final estimation and construction schedule will be determined after the demolition of the current floor so we can determine the condition of the subfloor because that condition can drastically change the timeline and budget of the subfloor.
During demolition, the old floor will be removed. After every day, the whole area will be thoroughly cleaned to make sure the construction doesn’t affect the surrounding area. Also, if there are other projects in the house, Marty will collaborate with other contractors to ensure there are no schedule delays or misunderstandings. After demolition and the subsequent clean-up, then subfloor preparation can begin.
The subfloor is one of the most important aspects of the floor and needs special consideration. If the subfloor is damaged, then it needs to be replaced. Otherwise, the subfloor needs scraped, sanded, and trimmed. It is essential that the subfloor is entirely smooth and even. Through Marty’s expertise, he can make the flooring the same level throughout an entire level of the floor. In addition, he can make the floor smooth and seamless, without any transitions to trip over. After the subfloor is completely prepared the entire workspace is once again thoroughly cleaned.
Before Marty starts installation, he will pre-lay all the pieces. He can perfectly blend the flooring, or make it look more uniform spending on what the client is looking for. Marty will look through every piece and make sure they’ll all work well with the rest of the flooring.
The actual installation process starts in an area that will line up with the most visual space in the house. Houses aren’t truly square, so by starting in an area that is the most visible the floor will look as straight as possible. It will also hide minor imperfections that are inevitable. Attention to detail is required for a high-quality floor, and by ensuring the subfloor is smooth and the material is installed perfectly straight it will have the best available outcome. The process may be tedious, but Marty’s high-quality service makes it a perfect end product. Marty will save you from a flawed floor and give you the most high-quality floor that lasts for years to come. He can work with any budget and still deliver on quality and precision. Marty treats every client’s home like his own and ensures that there are no imperfections in every project he works on.
If there are any issues with the flooring, Marty will help in any way he can. If there are any scratches, defects, or other problems the client needs to call him. He will come to fix the problem as quickly as he can. Marty will also come with the customer to assist with any warranty issues or factory defects.
